Junkyard Cafe – Saket

The Junkyard has always attracted the people for its ambience – the wooden flooring, rusty tables, the interior which gives you a feel of watching a live Transformer movie. My friend is a big fan of this place or would say she is crazy. So After watching Avengers, we were here to curb our hunger.

We started with Cocktails my personal favourite – LIIT and Skeleton 3. The presentation of the cocktails was poor. I was disappointed when I saw my LIIT in a normal glass and the same goes with the Skeleton which was in a whiskey glass ( I was expecting a skeleton-shaped mug). LIIT was strong, rather too strong I would say and Skeleton was having a nice touch of whiskey with cardamom.

While seeping the drinks our food arrived – Four cheese spring roll – it was supposed to be stuffed with corn, jalapeno, cheddar, spinach, mozzarella, and 2 more cheese. But I guess Parmesan overpowered everything and the stuffing didn’t play any role. A great dish but ruined by the cheese ratio which killed the taste of everything. Didn’t find corn or Jalapeno both in it.

Baked Mac and Cheese – I was so keen on trying this dish and waiting for it eagerly, as have not eaten it like from 8-9 months ( as I was trying to reduce some kilos which I failed). The consistency and the taste were good but instead of getting a cheesy flavour was getting more of milky flavour. And it was not properly baked too from the above as didn’t find any golden coating of baking over it.

Junkyard Ultimate Garlic Cheese Bread – Are you a fan of Garlic bread?? If yes then don’t order it here, you will ruin your evening. The garlic bread ( the bread) was not even garlic bread, it was like eating a sweet bun topped with Parmesan cheese as I was told ( for me it was like some cheese mixed in milk).

Ordered Half n Half pizza – Spicy Pepperoni and four seasonal vegetable – The pizza was well baked, thin crust and crunchy ( cheese pull is not possible). It was sweet due to the sauce used in the base.

It was the time for the Main course and checked Zomato for the recommendations and was surprised to see Dal Makhani. After discussing with each other and asking the server twice ordered it. It was served in large Pan and with a first bite, I was blown away. One of the best Dal Makhani I have tasted this year. All the food which I ate previously was overshadowed with the Beauty of Dal Makhani. The consistency was perfect – creamy and buttery taste, one can feel it with a single bite. Paired with Garlic naan and it was a bomb combo.

For dessert – our old sweet Brownie ice cream combo. The brownie is huge and more then enough for 2 person that big it was. Moist and crunchy in taste with vanilla ice cream at the side.

What would I recommend?? Dal Makhani and Garlic Naan for sure. Ice cream Brownie combo was also good. Brownie was well baked and crunchy in taste.
